Drug dealer, 35, jailed after not taking Judge’s second chance

-

DRUG dealer Staci Salt has been jailed after he spurned a chance given to him by a court.

The 35-year-old was handed a two year suspended sentence on July 15 last year after admitting possession of heroin with intent to supply and aggravated vehicle taking.

But three days later he was found in possession of class B drug monkey dust in Cheadle.

And he failed to comply with probation on two dates in October.

Now Salt has been jailed for two years at Stoke-on-trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Peter Mccartney said: “On the late afternoon of July 18 police were called to the centre of Cheadle. They saw the defendant heavily intoxicated. He was slurring his words and was unsteady on his feet. He walked away from the police. He refused to accept they were police. He kept walking in the road causing everyone to drive around him.

“He was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

That was withdrawn at the magistrates’ court. He was searched. In his pocket he had 332 milligrams of monkey dust.”

Salt, of Cross Street, Cheadle, pleaded guilty to breaching a suspended sentence order and possession of a class B drug.

David Farley, mitigating, asked Judge Paul Glenn not to implement the whole of the order.

“He did not stay in touch. He became homeless. It is a problem that has dogged him,” said Mr Farley.

“He is now on methadone and living with his mother.”

Judge Glenn said: “You were made the subject of a suspended sentence last July when many judges would have sent you to immediate custody. Your response was to make absolutely no effort.

“There is no question the suspended sentence will be implemented.”

The judge ordered the forfeiture of the drugs.
