Cherish opportunity to catch Heidi in concert

-

A VILLAGE hall is to host a concert by singer Heidi Talbot later this month.

The event on Tuesday, March 29, is part of Alstonfield’s In Concert series.

Irish born Heidi Talbot became well known in the US as a member of the all-female super-group Cherish The Ladies, before returning to the UK to live in Edinburgh. She has since recorded seven solo albums, with her next due out this spring.

After a recent break-up from her husband of 11 years, the musician John Mccusker, she was forced to look elsewhere for a producer and musicians for the album.

She had no difficulty, though, in pulling together an international group of musicians including her friend Mark Knopfler and Scottish musician/producer Adam Holmes. The result is new album Sing It For A Lifetime which sees Heidi going transatlantic, an unconscious return to the style of her early years.

With her background, Heidi has a style that switches easily between Celtic and Americana. But subtlety is her magic ingredient, with her delicate and gossamer vocals typically described in terms such as “mesmerising” and “intoxicating”.

She is a warm and engaging performer and over the past 20 years has performed in the US and many other countries in the finest concert halls. She is equally at home in front of a symphony orchestra, in a performing arts centre, a festival or even at the White House.

She has shared the stage and recorded with Mark Knopfler, Graham Coxon (Blur), Eddi Reader and many more.

Knopfler appears on her new single from the album, Empty Promise Land, released 11 March.

Heidi will be joined by Jennifer Austin (keyboards), Innes White (acoustic guitar, vocals) and Jack Maher (guitar, vocals).

Tickets cost £16 (£18 door). Call 01335 310322 or email avh. concerts@gmail.com. Alternatively, buy online at www.wegottickets.com
