Busy village road looks set for double yellow lines

-

A TRAFFIC Regulation Order has been published which is set to see yellow lines installed on a busy village road.

After months of planning and consultation, yellow lines on parts of Holt Lane in Kingsley which links it with Kingsley Holt are set to be approved.

In April 2019, First Bus diverted services from out of the village due to congestion on Holt Lane during school times.

The company made the decision after motorists began parking along sections of Holt Lane near St Werburgh’s C.E Primary School – including on a blind bend – which resulted in buses and cars having to drive on the wrong side of the road with no clear view ahead.

Following the move, Kingsley Parish Council have been in discussions with Staffordshire County Council and their county council representative, Councillor Mike Worthington, to look at imposing measures to safeguard the area at busy times.

At last week’s meeting of Kingsley Parish Council, county councillor, Councillor Mike Worthington said: “I have driven around Holt Lane and it is frightening.

“There is now one last time for consultation, which is a standard process, before work is carried out.”

Now Staffordshire County Council have advertised the Traffic Regulation Order.

It states: “Staffordshire County Council propose to make a Traffic Regulation Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce the following restrictions on the said road(s) in Kingsley:

– No Waiting at Any Time on A52 Dovedale Road and Holt Lane.

– No Stopping on School Keep Clear Markings Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 3.30pm on Holt Lane.

Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Cheadle Library, 15A-17 High Street, Cheadle or at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders.
