BALL Haye Green were involved in two Staffordsh­ire County Senior League six-goal encounters in the space of a week as they lost in midweek but romped to victory at the weekend, writes DALE BILBIE.

On Monday, in-form Audley made light work of Andrew Beechey’s Green side when the two sides met under the lights at Pointon Park.

Audley’s 17-game unbeaten run was further enhanched by bagging five goals through Jack Finney, Dan Lancett, Jordan Beech, Adam Cooper and yet another for the prolific Callum Middleton.

Green’s consolatio­n was from skipper David Bailey.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men late on in the encounter.

On Saturday, however, Ball Haye certainly had all their ducks in a row when they fired six past improving Hanley Town at the Payaro Stadium.

Beechey’s ‘Green have not had too much to cheer this season but when Luke Morris netted in the second minute followed in the 15th by a second from Ollie Mellor, he must have thought it was to be their day, especially when Morris added his second and ‘Green’s third, ten minutes before the break.

Skipper David Bailey netted a fourth for the Leek side shortly after the hour with Morris completing his hat-trick in the 80th minute.

Jimmy Shaw rounded off the scoring for the day with the sixth on 84 minutes.

In the Premier Division, sixthplace­d Leek CSOB were defeated by a solitary Sam Birks goal for hosts Ashbourne when they travelled to Mill Street.

The three points leave the Shrovetide­rs in 11th position.

Elsewhere in Macron Cup action, Cheadle Town reserves were heavily beaten by Keele University.

Cheadle, from Division Two startled their Division One counterpar­ts when they took a 15th minute lead through Curtis Leavy.

The scholars finally got their homework right when they levelled shortly before half time with a Jacob Crook strike.

The second half saw the academics take command of the game eventually running out 4-1 winners with Michael Johnson, Louis Morris & Charlie Wilson all on target.

Wolsatanto­n ended their recent run of indifferen­t form when they secured the Premier Division points in a 3-0 away victory at lowly Abbey Hulton Utd at Drayton Beaumont Park.

Wing-wizard Archie Ellams got ‘Stant off to a good start when he scored after 12 minutes with the only goal of the first half.

After the break, the elder statesmen of Wolstanton made their mark.

On 55 minutes, Jamie Kempson was on target, followed five minutes later with a goal from Chris Broad.

The win took Wolstanton up to seventh in the table while Abbey Hulton slump to second bottom.

Scott Woodcock’s Alsager Town side enjoyed themselves at Wood park when they notched four without reply against Silverdale.

Spencer Byatt gave Town the lead

on 14 minutes with Callum Brammer extending the lead five minutes before the break.

Joel Jones added a second-half brace with his first just after the hour and a second 10 minutes from time, securing the points for the South Cheshire outfit which moves them up to fifth in the standings.

Ashbourne an City of Stoke shared the points when they drew 3-3 in a thrilling encounter at Mill Street in Rocester.

Paul Spencer helped himself to a brace and Craig Startin an additional goal for the Shrovetide­rs but a Jordan Hall goal on 70 minutes followed by a late Kieran Lazenby double rendered the honours even on the night.

Jamie Rawlinson’s Hanley Town side edged out a youthful Buxton side by a single Travis Chawner-bowers strike on 26 minutes to secure the points at the Payaro Stadium in Bucknall.

City of Stoke Reserves swept aside visitors Ball Haye Green Reserves at Whisper Lane in Butterton by three goals to one.

Owen Bott opened the scoring for Scott Barrett’s Stoke side on three minutes with Mitch Underwood adding a second on the half-hour.

Bott was yet again on target for the hosts on the hour with a consolator­y goal for travelling ‘Green coming from Harry Boyle.

Division One stalwards Redgate Clayton Reserves showed their class against Division Two hopefuls Stone Dominoes FC at Northwood Lane.

Zander Derrington’s hosts netted on 21 minutes through Jay Finney with evergreen Tim Bowyer adding a second shortly after the break.

The win was wrapped up shortly before the final whistle when Harry Tudor found the back of Dominoes net. Luca Chandler had netted a consolatio­n for Simon Dean’s Stone side.

Division Two high-flyers Uttoxeter Town reserves continued their fine run of form when they made light work of Division One visitors

Leading marksman Robert Hepburn scored opened his account on 35 minutes and then addded a second on the hour mark.

Henry Wallace added a third for the hosts with a fourth and fifth added on 89 and 90 minutes from Ashton Bagley.

Harry Minshall scored the solitary White Star goal.

Division One title hopefuls Wolstanton Reserves travelled to the Red Lion Ground in Rugeley to take on the newcomers Brereton Social Reserves and came away with a 3-1 victory.

Robert Boyd scored in the second minute with Jack Mcdonald adding a second 10 minutes later.

A Josh Mackintosh goal early in the second half made it three with Blake Ainger on target with a Social consolatio­n.

Scott Woodcock’s Alsager Town side took on league leaders Brereton Social at Wood Park and edged out Chris Mulli’s travelling side from Rugeley by a solitary Liam Shaw goal on 30 minutes.

The win lifts Town into fourth, Social remain top.

Redgate Clayton sit third following a 3-1 victory over Eastwood Hanley at Northwood Lane.

Billy Silvester open the account for Redgate when on 20 minutes he curled in a delightful effort after cutting in from the right but Dan Dawson’s host’s were guilty of squanderin­g many chances in the opening half.

In the second half Eastwood drew level when a set piece was converted at the back post but on 77 minutes Mubemba Juwara raced on to a through ball from the Redgate midfield but was brought down in the penalty area. Joe Price stepped up to convert from the spot and had further season to celebrate when he headed home his second and Redgate’s third, eight minutes from time.

Romano Graham was the fivegoal hero for Tom Chew’s travelling Walsall Phoenix side that demolished an under–strength City of Stoke, made worse when they were reduced to nine-men at Whisper Lane.

Audley secured a point in a goalless encounter with Wolstanton at the Bradwell Community Centre.

Silverdale put five past lowly Abbey Hulton Utd at Drayton Beaumont Park.

Macauley Davies netted a first-half brace for Allan Davies’s ‘Dale with another before half time from Tom Parks.

The evergreen Jon Hughes bagged a brace late in the second half to seal the points for the Kent’s Lane outfit.

The young Bucks of Buxton made the long trek to Lichfield and came away with a point when they drew 1-1 with James Lloyd’s Lichfield City Casuals.

Jake Lawson gave Lloyd’s men a fifth-minute advantage but the talented Harry Payne equalised for the travelling Derbyshire side in the 86th minute.

Unbeaten Milton Utd remain in pole postion in Division One when they were held by a much improved Hawkins Sports side 2-2 at the Hardman Centre.

Harry Minshall, Joe Morris and Rob Whelan.

Pelsall Villa continued their impressive debut season when they made the tricky journey to Waterhouse­s to take on Division One basement side Ball Haye Green reserves and bagged eight goals without reply.

Joel Butler gave Andy Bond’s men the lead on four minutes but were helped when ‘Green had Brad Grindey dismissed after 12 minutes.

Bobby Speed added a first-half hattrick with Matt Wood and Joe Ryder also on target.

An Alex Porter penalty and a Jake Millward strike two minutes from time rounded off the rout.
