@21 needs your help...

-

A MOORLANDS youth charity is seeking support.

The Leek Youth Project, @21 provides facilities, support, and activities for young people, particularly those facing difficulties.

It plays a vital role in helping and protecting the more vulnerable youngsters in the area by providing youth workers, a base, exciting activities, structure, and people to talk to in time of crisis.

In 2014 central funding for the project disappeared when the County Council closed all its youth services and since then a determined group of dedicated local volunteers have pitched in to keep the youth club open.

Last year the charity was able to secure a lifeline in the form of a Heritage Lottery Grant, and at the end of the first successful year, with the help of the grant, the charity has made significant strides in their goal to be sustainable long term.

However, to keep the momentum going they are looking for additional help.

Michelle Cohen @21 fundraiser said: “The amazing work done by our trustees and the wider network of supporters has given us a platform to raise awareness and funds, but we need more.

“We are looking for new trustees who would be willing to join the group, bring their skills to the table and assist with the work of running the charity.

We are also recruiting a paid parttime fundraiser to work with us approximately two days per month and looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of the charity’s work.”

If you think you may be able to help as trustee, fundraiser, or volunteer, or would like to find out more, please contact Michelle Cohen: michellecohentownend@ gmail.com or call 07734 417928.
