VOLUNTEERS are needed for the NSPCC’S flagship Childhood Day in Leek.

The UK’S leading children’s charity is bringing everyone in Leek together this summer to have fun and to highlight child protection with Childhood Day.

Childhood Day, which is on June 10, is the NSPCC’S landmark charity day where families, friends and colleagues celebrate childhood by organising events to raise money and help keep children safe.

The NSPCC is appealing for volunteers in Leek to help at the town centre fundraising collection.

Caroline Morgan, supporter fundraising manager for the Midlands, said: “Last year, the NSPCC Helpline made 4,574 referrals to agencies in the Midlands about child abuse and neglect concerns; an average of almost 13 referrals a day. With the support of local people here in Leek, we can take action against child abuse, and

“In particular, we need volunteers to help at our Leek collection, so please contact us if you’re able to give your time, energy and enthusiasm. Together we can make all the difference for children.”
