Timperley takes narrow win in Moorlands Trials
RICHARD Timperley won the Staffordshire Moorlands Trial at Manor Steps by the smallest of margins from Corey Dubik on Sunday, writes SCOTT ELLIS.
The difference was just one mark after four laps of 10 sections at this famous venue.
The deciding factor was the better performance by Richard on Section 9, a difficult gully with some very large boulders, even though Corey outscored him on the rest of the course.
Joe Spivey and Iain Robinson followed closely behind.
The 50/50 route was an even closer contest with James Clayton just shading out Pete Ruscoe on the tie decider, both losing 19 marks.
Patrick Edwards was the only rider within striking distance of the leaders finishing on 23 marks.
The very well supported Middle Route was headed up by Toby Eyre, who was six marks ahead of Richard
Wareham, Mark Timperley finishing third.
The Clubmans’ class was a walkover for Carl Braddock who took his Chinese Xispa to victory with a loss of only two marks. Mark Williams, Elliot Machin and Andrew Weston were in a close contest for second place but 15 marks behind Carl.
Many thanks to Geoff Tunnicliffe for the use of his land and to all the officials which made the trial possible.
