He’s waited over a year – but Donald could be the one for you

Margaret Russell, secretary of CHEADLE ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY, updates us and highlights some pets who are looking for a new home...

MASON from Cheadle is just 4 years old and was given a school homework project which was ‘to think of a way to help others and be kind.’

Mason immediately thought he could help the dogs and cats in our care so he swiftly donated £5 of his pocket money which he had earned by doing little jobs at home.

Mason has a 1-year-old Labrador called Rex who is his best friend. I don’t know about you, but I think Mason is a wonderful young boy and is an inspiration to others. Many thanks Mason.

The tickets for our Stringers and Ringers Concert at the Guild Hall, Cheadle on Friday April 19, starting at 7pm, are now on sale at Kenral, High Street, Cheadle and also at Cross Street Pet Shop in Cheadle.

Alternatively you can ring 01335 390369. The tickets cost just £7 each.

The Stringers are the UKE3A Ukelele Group and the Ringers are the Alton Handbell Ringers, and believe me, between them they will provide a wonderful evening of entertainment.

I do hope you’ll be able to come along. The number of tickets is limited, so don’t leave it too long, as once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Please join us at the Girl Guides’ Spring Fair at the Guild Hall, Cheadle on Saturday March 9. The doors will be open from 10am – 1pm. We have a stall with good quality bric-a-brac and our popular Pick a Card games – one for children and one for adults. There will be other charity stalls as well as craft stalls, refreshments and a raffle. Hope to see you there.

We are still hoping to find a home for Ava and Bruno, the two lovely German Shepherds, as their family’s circumstances have changed and they can, sadly, no longer remain with their owner.

Ava is 10 years old and is spayed while her best friend, Bruno is 9 years old. They are such good friends and really need to stay together. If you can help or would like more information please ring 07731 616025, or you can take a look on our website – cheadleanimalwelfare.org.uk.

We have several cats waiting patiently for new homes. Daphne is a very pretty tabby and who has recently been spayed and is eager to find a new home with people who will love her to bits and give her lots of fuss and attention.

Leo is a wonderful black and white Tom. He enjoys sitting on your lap so will make someone a fabulous companion. Myrtle is a silver tabby and is a very shy young girl, but that’s because she’s in the cattery. She just needs to find a quiet home with people who will be calm and gentle. To be honest if I was wanting another cat she is the one I would choose as two of my cats were very similar in temperament when they came to me and now they are both so loveable. If you can, please give Myrtle a chance.

Maybe you have no other cats and want to give a home to a black cat. If so Donald could be the one for you. He’s a lovely cat who has been waiting for that special someone for 15 months.

You will find details about all of the cats and dogs in our care on our website. Take a look www. cheadleanimalwelfare.org.uk

We are still on the lookout for items which you may have and which you don’t really want, and which you would perhaps like to donate to help our Waifs and Strays. We would particularly like items which would be suitable as tombola prizes, e.g. toiletries or small gifts. Any items which you are prepared to donate can be left at Cross Street Pet Stores, Cheadle, or you can ring 01335 390369 so that, if possible, we can arrange collection.
