Battery storage site could be built on green belt site
A BATTERY storage site could be built on farmland in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
Plans for a flexible energy facility south of Cellarhead Substation and west of Rownall Road, Wetley Rocks, have been submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
The council approved battery storage facilities east of the substation in December 2022 and next to the substation in June last year.
The latest proposal, for green belt land, would include 248 battery containers.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has also received the following applications:
SMD/2024/0081: Single storey garage in rear garden at 3 Meadowside, Biddulph;
HNT/2024/0001: Application to determine if prior approval is required for a single storey rear extension, measuring 3.5m beyond the rear wall of the existing dwelling and 3.5m maximum height and 2.1m to height of eaves at 2 North Side, North Street, Leek;
SMD/2024/0080: Proposed single storey rear extension to form open living and dining area along with bedroom extension to the front over garage at Loxley, Clay Lake, Endon;
SMD/2024/0079: Application for a Lawful Development Certificate for proposed loft conversion and dormer at 27 Havensfield Drive, Upper Tean;
SMD/2024/0078: Change of use of property with an A3 Use Class (now E(b)) to ancillary accommodation at Hollinshead Farm, Lask Edge Road, Lask Edge;
SMD/2024/0074: Demolition of bungalow and two garages and construction of dormer bungalow at Manor Croft, Clewlows Bank, Bagnall;
SMD/2024/0030: A full refurbishment inside the property is required for the proposal to change the use of property to a holiday let at Primitive Methodist Church, New Road, Alton.
