Morris and Rogers on mark to help Green make their point

FOOTBALL: Redgate Clayton produced a clinical performanc­e in front of goal to rout Milton United 8-0 in their home Staffs County League Premier Division clash.

The visitors lost skipper Lewis Fereday to injury midway through the first half with Gate peppering the Milton goal with numerous chances.

Milton stood strong until the 33rd minute when Sam Finney fired home and, a couple of minutes later, Connor Lawton made it two with a fine long-distance strike.

Then, from a break, the ball was unselfishl­y squared for Harry Baggaley to hit the third. On the stroke of half-time, Jack Finney scored a fourth.

The second half started much the same as the first finished with Jack Finney once again on target.

Redgate remain top of the table, with four games in hand over second-placed AFC Alsager.

AFC Alsager also hit eight without reply in their home meeting with FC41.

Striker Nathan Barry was star man, hitting five goals, one being from the penalty spot, a further brace from Jordan Rigby and a single strike from Adam Holford sealed the win.

Madeley White Star travelled to the Trade Tyre Stadium and returned home with all three points after a 1-0 win over hosts Lichfield City Casuals.

The only goal of the game came from starlet Charlie Batho.

Dave Bailey’s Ball Haye Green side secured only their fourth point of 2024 following a 2-2 draw with Rugeley-based Brereton Social.

Damon Rogers and Luke Morris were on target for Bailey’s hosts.

AFC Crewe continue to lead the way in Division One thanks to a 3-3 draw at Stafford Town.

Dan Rotherham, Ashley Plant and Todd Pryor all netted for the hosts, while Daniel Ihejirika, Brandon Mighten and Michael Sarpong were on target for AFC Crewe.

In Division Two North, Keele University Reserves drew 2-2 at home against FC41 Reserves.

In the President’s Trophy, Matthew Woodward and Steve Keeling scored a goal in either half for Cheadle Town when they overcame hosts Brereton Social Reserves 2-1 at the Red Lion Ground.

In the Macron Cup group stages, Division Two South outfit Cannock Dynamos overcame Division One side Warstones Wanderers 2-1, with Joe Watson on target for Kyle Goodwin’s hosts on the half-hour with Matthew Till adding the decisive goal on 77 minutes.

Tom Lloyd’s Division One Cresswell Wanderers were edged out 2-1 against Staffordsh­ire Moorlands Division Two North side Ball Haye Green Reserves at the 5’s Pavilion Sports Ground in Cannock.

Michael Whitter was on target for Cresswell, but first-half strikes from James Hollins and Harrison Birch gave the Leek-based team the victory.

Elsewhere, Eastwood Hanley and Redgate Clayton Reserves played out a goalless draw.
