Two held over city armed rob­bery

TWO men from Leices­ter have been ar­rested fol­low­ing an armed rob­bery in the city more than two months ago.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened at 7.20am on Thurs­day, Au­gust 30, when a man went into a busi­ness premises in Barkby Road and threat­ened two mem­bers of staff with what was be­lieved to be a hand­gun.

Po­lice said staff were as­saulted but did not suf­fer any in­juries.

No money was stolen dur­ing the raid.

A spokesman for the force said to­day: “As part of their in­quiries, of­fi­cers have ar­rested two men, aged 26 and 27 and from Leices­ter, on sus­pi­cion of rob­bery.

“They have since been re­leased un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.”

The name of the busi­ness which the raiders tar­geted has never been of­fi­cially named by po­lice.

The spokesman added: “In­quiries are con­tin­u­ing into the rob­bery and any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to con­tact po­lice on 101.”
