CHARNWOOD Brewery is set to open its first micropub.

The Sorrel Fox is being opened in Mountsorrel, and aims to be at the heart of the community, providing good quality beer and a place where people can meet and chat.

Charnwood Brewery was started by Andrew and Andrea Reed in December 2014, with the idea of producing beers to sell to pubs, bars and restaurants in the local area.

They always wanted to be selling their beer to the best pub in a village or area, and where that wasn’t possible, they would consider opening their own outlet.

Now, four years after opening the brewery, they are about to open their first micropub.

The pub is near The Green and the newly built Memorial Centre, in the heart of the village.

According to Andrew, they have had support from many local people plus the parish council.

“I think they share our view that villages need new places on the High Street to help revitalise village centres,” he said.

The Sorrel Fox will sell a range of Charnwood’s real ales and craft beers.

There will also be a lager imported from Austria to complement the brewery’s own draught beers.

The pub will offer a comprehensive wine list supplied by wine merchant, George Hill, as well as a range of gins.

The pub will be run by Nick Parker who has worked for the brewery for the last 18 months.

The pub is due to be open by the end of November, and the opening hours will be 5pm to 10pm, Monday to Thursday, noon to 10.30pm, Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8pm on Sunday.
