£800 to make up for Jade’s bad date

- By LORRAINE KING and CARLY ODELL

A MUM who spent £93 and travelled for three hours to meet a date who immediately called her fat has been given hundreds of pounds by strangers.

Jade Savage, pictured, set up a “joke” GoFundMe page to recuperate the money she spent when she travelled from her home in Syston to meet her date in Peterborough.

But size 14 Jade has now been given £800, a lot of supportive messages and and the offer of a premium dating app profile.

The money has been raised by 50 donors, 20 of whom left mainly positive comments.

One donor said: “You are beautiful, that guy has serious problems in his eyes.”

Another said: “I hope you find a special guy that deserves to be with someone as beautiful as yourself.”

The biggest single donation of £200 was made by someone called Tristan Piñeiro - the same name as the head of communications at dating website Badoo, MirrorOnline reported.

The donation came with a note that says: “Hi Jade – here’s something towards your next, hopefully much better, date.

“We think you’d be more successful on Badoo.com so please contact us, and we’ll set you up with a premium account.”

The care support worker said it took over three hours travelling the 82 miles to Peterborough and back again, with the date over in five minutes.

She said they had met a few times before but when she arrived he said “You have put some weight on, haven’t you?’

Jade hoped their date could be salvaged but when she got into his car they had a row about what he said and he drove her back to the station.

She had paid £30 on taxis, £12 on a missed coach, £46 on the train and £5 on wine to drown her sorrows.
