PRINCE CHARLES: INSIDE THE DUCHY OF CORNWALL

ITV, 9pm

THERE’S a 700-year-old tradition that gives every Prince of Wales a personal income – The Duchy of Cornwall.

But what started out as something more modest when Prince Charles, pictured, took the helm 50 years ago, is now a whopping £1billion business pulling in £21million annual profits.

The income supports himself, his sons and his charities, but it’s not been easy. “I’ve gone on despite the endless criticism,” he says.

In this documentary, cameras have privileged access to Prince Charles as we find out more about his personal empire as he visits his staff and tenants.

The vast estate has coastlines, castles, national parks – and some more surprising locations. An inner city estate, Dartmoor prison and a B&Q site in Milton Keynes to name a few.

It may be an insight into Prince Charles’ life’s work but watch out for the odd word from royal relatives.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, says: “It’s not just a business, it encompasses everything he’s passionate about.”

BILL TURNBULL: STAYING ALIVE

Channel 4, 10pm

IN 2017, broadcaster Bill Turnbull, pictured, was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. Having ignored early symptoms, by the time he went to the doctor it had spread to his bones.

“It was a bit of a shock to the system,” says the 63-yearold, who admits that chemo sent him to a dark place. “I have an incurable disease, not immediately terminal but terminal after a number of years.”

This is an intimate and hugely emotional film, which follows Bill as he seeks out different treatments that he hopes could “stave off” cancer, even trying medicinal cannabis.

And there are personal moments between him and his family, as well as friends, including his former Breakfast TV co-host Sian Williams, radio presenter Nick Robinson and broadcaster Stephen Fry, who all have their own cancer experiences to share.
