Fast food chain jobs plan

-

A FAST food chain which had thousands of people queuing for the opening of its first UK restaurant is hoping to open in Leicester, creating dozens of jobs.

Jollibee, a brand that specialises in chicken, is looking to make Leicester the home of its “flagship branch in the Midlands”.

Plans have been submitted to Leicester City Council to transform the former Select clothing shop in Haymarket Towers in Humberstone Gate into a Jollibee restaurant.

The application says the restaurant would create 70 jobs in the city centre.

The company, which originated in the Philippines, only has one restaurant in the UK – in Earls Court Road in Kensington.

The restaurant has also submitted plans to open a restaurant in Liverpool. When the first London branch opened about a year ago thousands of people queued for hours to sample the chain’s chicken.

It is extremely popular across Asia, with more than 1,000 branches open across the world.

It proposes to open from 9am to midnight each day.

Jollibee is known for its mix of American and Asian-inspired meals.
