A MAN in his 60s was mugged moments after he had stepped off a bus on Saturday night.

Two men targeted the victim as he walked along a footpath between Groby and Ratby.

The attack left the man with injuries to his face and hand.

In a statement, police said: “It happened on the path where Ratby Road meets Groby Road, close to the bridge above the M1, between 11.30pm and 11.50pm.

“Two men assaulted the victim, a man in his 60s, and stole his mobile phone before running off to Martinshaw woods.

“They were wearing all black clothing and are believed to be in their early 20s.”

Pc Ellise Timmins said: “The victim had just got off a bus and was walking towards Ratby from Groby when he was attacked.

“I’d like to speak to anyone who also walked along the path in the area that evening, or who was driving past and saw what happened.
