A Labour government would cost us all dearly

-

YET another Labour idiotic outburst from Soulsby, our city mayor (“Five more years of hurt?”, Leicester Mercury, December 14).

He said he was contemplating more cuts under a Tory government, even before Boris Johnson had had time to get his feet under his desk.

What arrant nonsense this man utters.

He stated in the article that Leicester did return three Labour MPs to Parliament (that’s something to be proud of?) and that the failure to keep the Conservatives out of Downing Street would cost the city and council dearly (certainly not as much as Labour!)

He then went on to say: “The immediate effect is that we are not going to see the transformation that a Labour government would bring and would not see the restoration of the millions of pounds of government funding cut through the long period of austerity.”

I take it he has a crystal ball to see into the future over the next five years? Transformation? With Labour, the transformation as outlined by Jeremy Corbyn would be a nightmare to everyone in the country, never mind Leicester.

With a rich city such as ours, it takes the likes of Redcar and other staunch Labour strongholds to bring a semblance of understanding of how dangerous to this a Corbyn and McDonnell-led government would have been.

Out-and-out Marxist / communists, along with Momentum and the unions, they would have had this country of ours looking and being a banana republic in the eyes of the world within six months.

Semper Eadem, never a truer slogan!
