OVER £10,000 has been raised for a city charity at a night at the opera.

The money was raised earlier this month at a sold-out night of opera, with proceeds going to Leicester’s Hope Against Cancer.

Taking place at Lumbers of Leicester jewellers, the evening featured British-Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Rozanna Madylus.

Rozana has been singing for over a decade. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music, she became a member of the Royal Academy Opera and Academy Song Circle.

A multi-award winner, her repertoire covers opera staples such as The Magic Flute, Rigoletto and The Barber of Seville.

Other singers featured on the night included soprano Julia Sitkovetsky, baritone Ross Ramgobin and tenor Alexander Aldren.

One of the organisers said: “This year’s opera offering was a huge success.

“On top of the fantastic amount of money raised, it was an evening for the Leicestershire community to come together in support of a great cause.
