When recycling centres are open

CHRISTMAS day is over, all the presents have been opened and dinner has been eaten.

Now, what is left are mountains of wrapping paper, packaging left over from eagerly opened presents and food you could not quite finish.

There are 14 recycling and household waste sites across Leicestershire.

All are closed on New Year’s Day, with some closing early on New Year’s Eve.

Here are when they are open:

Open 9am to 4pm Monday, to Wednesday. Closed Thursday and Friday. Open at the weekend from 9am to 4pm.

This site will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Barwell:

Open from Saturday to Tuesday. It will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Open from Saturday to Tuesday from 9am to 4pm. Closed on New Year’s Day.

The tip is not accepting plastic bottles due to an operational issue which could take two to three weeks to resolve.

Bottesford: Coalville:

The nearest place to take bottles is Lount.

Closed on New Year’s Day. The site will be open from Friday to Monday, 9am until 4pm.

Kibworth:

Open from Saturday to Tuesday, 9am until 4pm. It is closed on New Year’s Day.

Loughborough:

Open Friday to Tuesday, from 9am until 4pm. Closed on New Year’s Day.

Lount: Lutterworth:

from 9am from Friday to Monday and will close at 4pm on each of those days.

The site is open from today until Monday, from 9am to 4pm. It will be closed on New Year’s Day.

The site will open today at 9am and close at 4pm.

It will then remain open until New Year’s Day, when it will be closed.

Market Harborough: Melton:

This will be open at the usual times from 9am until 4pm except for New Year’s Day.

Mountsorrel:

The site is closed for New Year’s Day. It will be open from Saturday to Monday from 9am until 4pm.

Open from Friday until Monday, 9am to 4pm. It is closed New Year’s Day.

The site will reopen on Saturday and remain open until New Year’s Eve.

It is accessible at the usual times – 9am to 4pm – except New Year’s Day, when it is closed.

Oadby: Shepshed: Somerby:

This site is closed on New Year’s Day. It will be open from Friday until Monday, 9am until 4pm.

Whetstone:

In Leicester, the two sites are open as follows:

Gypsum Close:

Year’s Day.

It will close early on December 31, at 2pm. Apart from these times it will be open from 8am until 6pm, Friday to Sunday.

The opening and closing times for this site are the same as Gypsum Recycling Centre.
