DEALING WITH THE MENOPAUSE

A NEW podcast aimed at women over 45 has just been launched.

Menopod will tackle the key lifestyle issues affecting mid-life women with honesty, expertise – and more than a touch of humour.

From fashion dilemmas to empty nests, new careers and beauty as well as everything connected to the menopause itself, a new episode will be available every two weeks.

“It’s a bit like Loose Women but with gin in our mugs instead of tea,” says journalist and columnist Susan Lee who, together with writer Dawn Collinson, hosts the podcast.

“We wanted to look at the menopause – and everything which spirals out of that – with a sense of fun.

“So while we’ll explore the physical and mental effects of this time of change we’ll also be examining other areas of women’s lives. That might be how the workplace deals with us, how we cope when the kids leave home – even the dating scene.”

■ The Menopod is available on Entale or wherever you get your podcasts. For more go to @Laudablepods on Twitter and Laudable_Podcasts on Instagram.

CAN SALT FIGHT CANCER?

SALT has been used to destroy cancer cells in mice by researchers at the University of Georgia, USA, who found that sodium chloride disrupted cancer when used in nanoparticle form.

It is hoped further research will discover whether it has the same effect on human cells.

STEROID USE WILL HARM HEALTH

MEN taking steroids to look like Love Island stars will cause a surge in hospital appointments in 20 years, experts claim.

Steroids boost the body’s muscle-building ability but can cause infertility and raise the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

A report by UK Anti-Doping found the number of users has “increased significantly”.
