Bowley is hailed as one for the future
YOUNG OFF-SPINNER BECOMES CLUB’S FIRST SIGNING OF 2020
LEICESTERSHIRE head coach Paul Nixon has praised the attitude and skill of Nat Bowley after the young off-spinner signed a professional contract at the Fischer County Ground this month.
Bowley became the club’s first signing of 2020 when he joined Alex Evans in graduating from the club’s academy.
Nixon sees a bright future for Bowley.
“He is a wonderful young man with a quality attitude and high skill levels with the ball,” he said.
“It is clear that he has been working hard and making great progress with his batting as well. We are delighted with his progression.”
Bowley, a Loughborough University student, showed his qualities last year for the County under-17s and the second team.
He helped the age-group team to their second successive Royal London Cup triumph as he took 4-20 in the six-wicket win over Hertfordshire.
Bowley was also a permanent fixture throughout the 2019 season for the Second XI, helping them on their way to the County Championship final against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.
Bowley’s immediate aim is to continue that progress and try and challenge to make his mark in Nixon’s first team this summer.
“I’m really excited to be on board,” he said. “I want to try and break into the first team, try and make my debut and hopefully contribute to some performances and some wins.”
