Leading law firm to celebrate excellence in science and technology at Business Awards

With its Leicester headquarters based in the city’s Colton Square, Freeths is a long-time supporter of the awards and is always looking for ways to demonstrate its support for regional business.
Returning to this year’s LeicestershireLive Business Awards, the firm will be combining their Headline Sponsorship of the event with backing the Excellence in Science & Technology Award.
This award will pay tribute to a business which has excelled in the sector with the winner having showcased fantastic advancement and innovation throughout their offering.
Mukesh Patel is in charge of Dispute Management and Managing Partner at Freeths and explained the decision to become a category sponsor.
“We have been Headline and category sponsors of the awards for well over a decade and believe these awards are important because they celebrate the diversity and innovation of business.
“The Excellence in Science & Technology Award is close to our hearts because we have always been an innovative legal practice,” he said.
“In this fast-moving world, science and technology are going to become even more important for all businesses as we shall all have to adapt from traditional ways of working.” As category sponsors, it will be down to Freeths to decide on the three shortlisted finalists and winner of the award. Judges’ deliberations will begin in February ahead of April’s ceremony. And, Mukesh discussed what he will be hoping to see from this year’s nominees.
“We are looking for real innovation and long-term sustainability.
“We want to see passion and commitment and demonstration of how science and technological innovation has made a real difference,” he said.

Taking place at the city’s Maher Centre venue, businesses of all sizes and from a variety of sectors will be acknowledged.
As well as their involvement with the awards, the firm has big plans of its own for 2020 as Mukesh explained.
“We are continuing to grow, adapting and embracing new technology and ways of working. A shining example of that is our recently refurbished Birmingham office which is truly set for the 2020’s, adopting the latest technology and moving to a fully agile working environment.
