Boy in collision with car outside school

A BOY was taken to hospital after he was involved in a collision with a car outside a city primary school yesterday afternoon.

The child, whose age has not been released, was injured in Beauville Drive, near Strasbourg Drive, Beaumont Leys, Leicester, shortly before 3.30pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene, outside Buswells Lodge Primary School.

The boy was treated at the scene before he was taken to hospital in the city.

A police spokesman said: “We were called by East Midlands Ambulance Service shortly before 3.30pm to a report of a collision in Beauville Drive, involving a car and a pedestrian.

“The pedestrian was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary. His injuries are not life-threatenin­g or life-changing. Because the emergency services were in attendance, traffic did begin to build up, but there was no road closure.”

Area Traffic Control, which monitors traffic levels, had urged drivers to avoid the area while the incident was ongloing.
