Woman freed from car wreck

A WOMAN was cut from the wreckage of one of two cars involved in a crash in Kibworth, near Market Harborough, yesterday.

Police were called to the incident, in Leicester Road, between Main Street and Marsh Drive just before 1pm.

Fire crews from Market Harborough, Billesdon and

Leicester’s Central fire stations cut the roof off the woman’s car before handing her into the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions for around three hours.

A police spokeswoma­n said: “We received a report at 12.57 of a two-vehicle collison in Kibworth Harcourt.

“The fire service are on the scene and the roof is being removed from one of the vehicles.”

Leicester Area Traffic Control and police urged motorists to avoid the area as traffic began backing up on either side. The woman was assessed at the scene, but it’s not known if she was taken to hospital.
