Free drop-in event for families

FAMILIES with children with special educational needs and disabilities are invited to the Leicester Riders’ Morningside Arena tomorrow to find out more about services that could help them.

Local Offer Live is a free, drop-in annual showcase event hosted at the arena, in Charter Street. from 10am to 4.30pm.

Information stands from organisations including the Carers Centre, National Citizen Service, Special Education Service and occupational therapy will be there, along with stands from charities, groups and support providers.

Workshops and performances will also be going on, highlighting services available and giving children with special needs the chance to show off some of their talents.

Workshops include a question-andanswer session on how education, health and care plans work. Other workshops will cover topics such as autism training or understanding children’s sensory needs.

Assistant city mayor Elly Cutkelvin said: “It’s a great chance to find out what help is out there. This is a useful and enjoyable event which I hope lots of families will drop in to.”
