Reed gets 2020 off to a flyer with Alliance win

AT last the first county golf Alliance tournament of the second half of the season went ahead as planned at Rutland County GC.

Michael Reed (Glen Gorse) continued where he left off so many weeks ago and finished first with his 3-under-par round for 39 pts.

The runner-up was Matthew Cort (Beedles Lake) on 38 pts, with Craig Shave (Cosby) and Richard Reed (Glen Gorse), Michael’s older brother, sharing third place on 37 pts.

Darren Anderson and Marcus Pearson (both Scraptoft) were overall winners after a tie on 45 pts, resolved on Alliance rule.

Mick Parker and Tom Hanson (both Glen Gorse) finished in second place and Michael Reed and amateur Cyril Wood were third on 44 pts.

Pro Dominic Fitzpatrick and amateur Dean Linnett (both Kibworth) finished on 44 pts to win the pro/am section award, with Hinckley’s Bob Watts and John Spatcher taking the am/am section prize on 43 pts.
