Wigston schoolboy happy to live life in the fast lane

-

ROCCO-LEON Shenton is showing the world of karting that nothing is going to hold him back from living life in the fast lane,

Pearce.

The eight-year-old, left, who is a pupil at Little Hill School in Wigston, was recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and anxiety disorder – but when he gets into his kart and onto the racing circuit, all of his troubles disappear.

He has been driving for just over 18 months and has already passed his Association of Racing Kart School licence.

He is now venturing onto tracks across the country in his pursuit of becoming a racing champion.

Rocco’s local track is Stretton 2000, in Leicester, where he puts in the practice that has already brought him a number of wins, his latest success coming in treacherous wet conditions at the PFI track in Grantham.

Providing vital support for Rocco is his dad, Rob, who is both his mechanic and mentor, helping to bring out his son’s natural talent.

The Wigston racer has already challenged some of the top Honda cadets in the country, aged between 8 and 12, and was placed in the top 10 in his first Motorsport UK race, which had 33 cadet drivers all with considerably more experience.

Rocco’s progress can be followed on his Instagram page at roccoleonracing.
