RESIDENTS’ faces light up when Susan Legg arrives at work with her usual, bright, cheery smile and an open mind of what the residents would like to do that day.
In fact, they often approach her with a hug and a kiss.
Which is one of the many reasons Sue, who passionate about supporting residents achieve their goals in life, is the winner of this year’s prestigious Carer of the Year Award.
A foster carer before joining the team at Langdale House, Sue has made a positive impact in her role as Activities and Wellbeing co-ordinator.
She treats all residents as individuals, spending time with them and their families, getting to know them and finding out what their capabilities are.

In other acts of kindness, she has found
ways to help residents make their last dreams come true.
One gentleman’s wish was to get on to the motorbike he’d been rebuilding for many years before coming into care. The joy of this happening, for him and his family, was outstanding.
Sue always builds up photographs of each resident enjoying their time in the home; creating precious memories for families after their loved ones have passed.
