BEST OF THE REST
REALITY HUNTED Channel 4, 9pm
THIS is the real-life thriller that sees ordinary people get to pretend they are Harrison Ford for a few weeks as they run around the country like an escaped fugitive.
It’s an odd concept, but strangely gripping as the contestants are pursued by an elite group of ex-military, law enforcement and security forces.
The hunter operation is headed up by Ben Owen, a former sniper and intelligence officer. This doesn’t feel like the best use of his time.
However, seemingly content to spend their time tracking fake fugitives, the teams crack on – making it highly difficult for anyone to remain at large.
The runaways have been stripped of all personal belongings and money – all they have are the clothes on their backs.
They will need to survive for 25 days relying on their networks and the kindness of strangers to have any chance of winning a share of £100,000.
HOSPITAL BBC2, 9pm
FILMED this winter when A&E waiting times were at their longest, this highlyacclaimed series returns to follow hospitals in Liverpool.
It’s a busy and complex time as two trusts – The Royal Liverpool and Aintree – are merging to become one single billion-pound organisation.
It should save a lot of money and improve patient care, but with hospitals at capacity, a new hospital over budget, and a nightmare game of hospital ‘chess’ with people and equipment being moved around the city, staff are pushed to the limit.
“We don’t have enough staff, we don’t have enough machines and we don’t have enough room,” says one nurse.
Meanwhile, a 91-year-old breaks his hip in a fall on the day of the hospital move and is accidentally sent to the wrong hospital.
And a mum of two young children has a life-threatening condition – she’s too ill to move to the new hospital, but the equipment she needs has gone there.
