Bail for man who caused roads to be shut
A MAN who climbed up scaffolding and refused to get down earlier this week, leading to police closing off part of the city centre, has been released on bail.
Officers cordoned off three city centre streets at 4.30am on Wednesday as trained negotiators dealt with the incident.
Sections of Charles Street, Humberstone Gate and Yeoman Street were sealed off after the 39-year-old started to throw debris from a building on to Charles Street.
Negotiators were called in and spoke to the man, from the city, to try to persuade him to climb down from the scaffolding.
During the negotiations, the man gained entry into a building.
The police entered the building and arrested him on suspicion of criminal damage.
The roads were reopened by 6am.
