Body found by police in city home

THE body of a man was found by police who had broken into in a flat.

Officers, who had been called by a member of the public concerned for the welfare of the man, had to force their way into the property in Western

Boulevard, Leicester, to gain access at about 11.30am on Wednesday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have said they are not treating the man’s death as suspicious.

His identity has not been released by the force.

A police spokeswoma­n said: “Police received a report at around 11.30am on Wednesday regarding the concern for the welfare for the occupant of a flat in Western Boulevard, Leicester.

“Officers attended the address and, after forcing entry, found the body of man inside.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

“Identifica­tion of the deceased is a matter for the coroner .”
