Olivia bids to reach semis of contest

A TEENAGER from the city is in the running for Miss England - and is hoping she can count on support from her hometown to get her further in the competition.

Olivia Shelton, of Keyham, is in the live heat on the Miss England website.

She is one of 14 contestants competing in an online video/photo heat for Miss England 2020.

It is being held virtually due to restrictions brought about by lockdown.

“I’m counting on your votes to get me through to the semi-final so that I can raise money for the Miss England charity ‘beauty with a purpose’”, said Olivia, 16.

All contestants who reach the semi-final will be invited to take part in a Zoom call with the judges, who will then select the finalists by the end of July.

Miss England national director Angie Beasley, who is also based in Leicester, said: “We had planned a glamorous fashion show at Kelham Hall with a big audience for the semifinal but, due to the lockdown, we had to change things round.”
