MOANA (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) is the daughter of Chief Tui and destined to lead her people on the island of Motunui. However, her grandmother tells her about the demi-god Maui, who stole the heart of the island goddess Te Fiti and lost this precious green stone during a battle with ferocious lava demon Te Ka. She encourages Moana to seek out Maui (Dwayne Johnson) and restore Te Fiti’s missing heart and bring prosperity to the island. This is a joyful rites-of-passage adventure from Disney, marrying broad comedy and infectious songs.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Tomorrow, ITV, 7.30pm
WHEN a volcano threatens the dinosaurs on the island, Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and boyfriend Owen (Chris Pratt, pictured) spring into action. However, there are dark forces working against the rescuers, including duplicitous Dr Henry Wu (BD Wong). There are thrills and entrails spills, but the blood-curdling screams are largely second-hand.

DR HANNIBAL LECTER (Anthony Hopkins) is at large in Florence. FBI agent Clarice Starling (now played by Julianne Moore, left) cannot shake the feeling of Lecter inside her head. Nor can hideously disfigured recluse Mason Verger (Gary Oldman), the doctor’s sixth and only surviving victim, who thirsts for revenge.

AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY Tuesday, Sony Movies, 9pm
WHEN 1960s spy Austin Powers’ (Mike Myers) nemesis Dr Evil (Myers again) is cryogenically frozen, the agent undergoes the same process. However, when he’s thawed out 30 years later, Austin discovers that battling the supervillain isn’t his only challenge – he also has to adjust to the politically correct 1990s. Liz Hurley, pictured with Myers, also stars.

THE SQUARE Wednesday, Film 4, 9pm
MUSEUM director Christian (Claes Bang, left, the BBC’s recent Dracula) is determined to make a PR splash with an interactive installation called The Square, in which visitors are encouraged to behave kindly and responsibly. When a pickpocket pilfers Christian’s mobile phone and wallet, he uses tracking software to exact revenge.

WITH her distinctive beehive hairdo, winged eyeliner and deep, soulful voice, Amy Winehouse became a defiantly outspoken icon for a generation. Asif Kapadia’s deeply moving documentary charts the turbulent life of the songbird, who died aged 27, including contributions from many of her friends and family, and people who worked with her.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL Friday, E4, 9pm
WITH the IMF team disavowed, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) sets out to clear the unit’s name, with the help of Benji (Simon Pegg, pictured with Cruise) and top analyst William Brandt (Jeremy Renner). They must operate outside official channels to avert nuclear Armageddon. Watch out for the epic stunt sequence at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa skyscraper.
