A DRAFT masterplan has been drawn up for an estate of about 100 homes in Market Bosworth.

The document outlines a proposal to develop 7.6 hectares of fields to the south of Station Road, including 40 per cent affordable homes.

Overseeing the project are Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, St Peter’s Church and Market Bosworth Parish Council.

They said they want to create a high-quality estate in keeping with the distinctiveness of the town.

It would include business units for existing and new companies and community sports and family play facilities.

The plan will be used to secure a developer to ensure completion of the scheme in the next five years.

Bill Cullen, chief executive of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Market Bosworth Parish Council and St Peter’s Church in securing a highquality scheme for this proposed major development in Market Bosworth which is an opportunity to bring forward a key development site in the borough.”

Vehicles would access the site off Station Road.

Homes on the north-eastern edge of the site would be set back to wrap around existing properties.

The estate would include a pedestrian link to the neighbouring streets and a circular footpath around the development. The entrance to the estate would be near the entrance to the old Kyngs Golf and Country Club, also in Station Road, which is also set to reopen after plans were approved for a new clubhouse and a holiday complex with six cabins.

Developer Statue Homes, which bought the site in 2016, is to build a centre with a shop and bar and increase car parking on site by more than 100 spaces.

The clubhouse will include changing rooms, dining areas, a golf simulator and a function room which would be used for weddings and other events throughout the year.

A formal public consultation on the masterplan will be held later in the year once the Covid-19 restrictions are sufficiently relaxed.

Residents can view the masterplan on the borough council website.
