INSIDE MONACO: PLAYGROUND OF THE RICH BBC2, 9pm

MONACO is like a bizarre alternate universe. With one in three residents millionaires, it’s just one big exclusive, designer, yacht-filled, tax haven.

Narrated by Fred Sirieix, cameras follow some of the super rich residents, as well as the workers who deliver their luxury lifestyle. One says: “They are like greedy children, they always want more and more and more.”

While Monika Bacardi, wealthy widow and heiress to the rum fortune, waxes lyrical from the comfort of her chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce: “Whatever your heart wants!”

Elsewhere, the focus is on the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix and chats with everyone from Eddie Jordan and David Coulthard, to Monaco’s Prince Albert II.

MURDER IN THE OUTBACK: THE FALCONIO AND LEES MYSTERY Channel 4, 9pm

AS this re-investigation into the case of missing British backpacker Peter Falconio continues, his girlfriend Joanne Lees starts to come under scrutiny.

In July 2001, Lees told police that she and her boyfriend had been flagged down by a truck driver on a remote stretch of highway in the Australian Outback. She said the driver shot Falconio and tied her up, before she managed to escape and hide in the bush.

Bradley Murdoch was later arrested and convicted of murdering Falconio, although a body was never found. His legal team has gained access to never-before-seen police documents and video, and have spoken to witnesses. They claim Murdoch would not be convicted if the trial took place today.
