Hospitals report five deaths

FIVE more patients have died at Leicester’s hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The patients were in their 80s and 90s. Their deaths took the total number who have died after testing positive for coronavirus and while being treated by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust to 372.

Nationally, the UK’s coronavirus hospital death toll has passed 32,000, after 109 more fatalities were reported in 24 hours.

England reported 88 deaths, Scotland 12 and Wales nine.

The latest hospital death increase was the lowest on a Wednesday since 34 deaths were reported on March 18, a week before lockdown began.
