Proposals for 116 homes in village passed
SITE NEXT TO AN EARLIER SCHEME
PLANS have been approved for an estate of 116 homes in a village.
The scheme for land between Bosworth Lane and Barlestone Road in Newbold Verdon will include 46 affordable homes and be made up of mostly semi-detached dwellings.
A number of bungalows will be built at the west of the 9.5-acre site.
Vehicles will access the site via a priority junction in Bosworth Lane, while a signalised junction would be created at the Bosworth Lane and Barlestone Road intersection.
Bloor Homes also built the neighbouring Old Farm Lane development of 94 homes on an eight-acre site which was approved in 2012 and which has now been completed.
A design statement filed with the new application said: “The development at Bosworth Lane, Newbold
Verdon, will offer a distinctive and attractive place to live, complementing the earlier development.
“The proposals will benefit both the existing and new communities by providing good-quality market and affordable homes and through financial contributions to improve green space and other facilities.
“The proposals will take cues from positive elements of the surrounding built form to ensure a cohesive and considered design, ensuring a highquality and desirable place to live.”
A public consultation led to 167 comments and inquiries, with 73 respondents saying there was a need for more housing in the area.
The scheme was unanimously approved by councillors.
