FOUR people were injured and a boy aged 13 arrested when groups – some thought to be armed with knives – clashed in a park.

Police were called to Braunstone Park shortly after 5pm last Monday to investigate reports of the confrontation.

Four people were treated for minor injuries and a 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, officers said.

Police have urged witnesses to come forward, including anyone who filmed the confrontation.

The beat team for the area, posted on social media: “Shortly after 5pm on Monday, we received a report that a group of up to 13 people were fighting in the park.

“It was reported that a number of people involved were believed to be carrying knives.

“Officers attended the scene and established that four people sustained injuries, which were not serious or life-threatening.

“A 13-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.”

Detective Constable Claire Francis, who is the investigating officer, said: “We believe there were people in the park who were not involved in this incident and would have seen what happened.

“There were some witnesses that the attending officers were not able to speak to.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen something connected to this and hasn’t as yet spoken to police or has any information about the people involved to get in touch with police.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have filmed on their phone any part of the incident.

“If you have any footage relating to what happened, please let us know.”
