POLICE are appealing for anyone who filmed an incident in which two adults and two youths were threatened with knives by a large group of people.

As reported in the Mercury, officers were called to Braunstone Park at 5pm on Monday, where they found one man injured after being punched and reports of weapons, including knives, being carried by some suspects and abusive language being used.

Police released an initial appeal about the incident involving two groups, but they now say two youths and two adults were being threatened by the other people present, while it is believed other people in the park may have filmed the incident.

The investigating officer, Detective Constable Claire Francis, said: “This was a serious incident involving reports of threats being made with knives and abusive language being used.

“We are continuing to investigate the incident to establish the full circumstances of what has happened.

“We believe there were a number of people in the park who were not involved in this incident but would have seen what happened.

“There were witnesses that the attending officers were not able to speak to and I urge anyone who may have seen something connected to this and hasn’t as yet spoken to us, or who has any information about those involved, to get in touch.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have filmed on their phone any part of the incident.

“If you have any footage relating to what happened, please let us know.”

A 13-year-old was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. He has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
