Arrests after fight in store

TWO men were arrested for fighting in a town centre bargain store.

The pair were detained after the fight in the Yorkshire Trading Company shop, in Sherrard Street, Melton at about 3.30pm on Sunday.

Staff called the police as the pair brawled in front of shocked shoppers, causing damage to the premises.

One of the men was taken to hospital for treatment to cuts to his face and hands..

Police are appealing for anyone with informatio­n about the incident to contact them on 101.

A police spokeswoma­n said: “Officers attended and found damage had been caused.

“One of the men was treated in hospital for cuts and bruising to his face and hands. A 38-year-old Melton man was arrested on suspicion of affray, GBH with intent and criminal damage. A 26-year-old Melton man was arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage. Both have been released under investigat­ion.”
