Premier League cash gets round the rules
GIVEN our city was placed in lockdown last week with all nonessential travel banned from the city and certain surrounding areas, could somebody please tell me why Crystal Palace were allowed to travel from London to Leicester to play a Premier League fixture on Saturday?
To me it is exactly the same as any normal human being travelling into a lockdown zone to visit friends.
Obviously, the millions of pounds which change hands in Premier League football are a way round this. Most Premier League players are alienated from the real world.
On the same day, County were due to play Derbyshire in a 20/20 fixture at Grace Road, but county cricket is still working towards its proposed August 1 restart, with no fixture schedule yet confirmed.
Sadly, county cricket doesn’t have the millions of pounds that Premier League football does to get round these restrictions.
On a happier note, at least the sport remains within the real world.
