24 HOURS IN A&E
Channel 4, 9pm
ANOTHER emotionally-charged episode from a 24-hour period at the emergency department of London’s St George’s Hospital.
This instalment follows the strength of parents who are trying desperately to protect their children, so expect it to be a heartrending hour.
The first story is that of Sammy, who has anorexia.
The teenager is in the paediatrics emergency department with dangerously low blood pressure. Sammy’s mum Jo discusses the pain she feels as a parent struggling to help her daughter. Medic Zanna explains why the condition is so difficult to treat.
Meanwhile, in a story of a child worrying for their parent, 66-yearold Raymond is rushed in after falling from a height onto concrete and landing on his back. Doctors are concerned about internal bleeding.
Raymond’s daughter Ella tells the story of their relationship and sacrifices he’s made over the years.
