Five young stars sign new Tigers deals after exit of big names

“There’s no doubt when you’re not winning games or performing to the level you want then of course the feeling is different,” he said.

“This is elite sport. All the guys are competitor­s and when they’re not winning the mood and feel can be different.

“However, we have remained as positive as we can.

“It was a little period of adversity we were in but this will make us stronger and better.

“Even on the difficult days we have to keep doing the right things and that was the important message.

“It’s easy to do it when you’re winning and consecutiv­ely winning but doing the right things when it’s tough is important.

“We’ll continue to reinforce our messages to support them and give clarity in their thinking.

“Crystal Palace has been a tough gig for the team for a couple of seasons but to have done the double over them, a team who defend deep and don’t give away so much, has really helped their confidence and we’ll now look to take it into the next game.
