Rallying cry

RODGERS SAYS CITY WILL FIGHT TO LAST WHISTLE TO FINISH IN TOP FOUR

-

BRENDAN Rodgers insists his side “will fight to the very last whistle” as the Leicester City boss issued a top four rallying cry ahead of tonight’s trip to Arsenal.

City need to overcome one of their European rivals and their historic bogey team to record a second win on the bounce this evening (8.15pm kick-off), but Rodgers says there is “absolutely no doubt” they can achieve their top four dream.

City are set to be without three of their key players – Ricardo Pereira, Ben Chilwell, and James Maddison – at the Emirates Stadium when they play a team they have not beaten away since the 1973-74 season.

But Rodgers says there is more than enough talent in his squad to clinch victory against Mikel Arteta’s men, who have won their last three matches.

“Our focus is on ourselves,” Rodgers said. “Can we bring the right performance?

“Can we bring the fight that we showed at the weekend even though the games are coming thick and fast?

“We’ve got a strong mentality. We’ll look to demonstrate that.

“There’s absolutely no doubt (we can achieve it). We’ve shown over 33 games now our talent.

“We’re maybe missing some players who have helped us along the way, but as a squad we’re focused on achieving it and we will fight to the very last whistle.”

Although positivity has remained high in the camp during the difficult restart
