DRIVING FORCE: Greg Eason says he’s more focused and more hungry

PLAYING as a professional in America, Greg Eason (Kirby Muxloe) has been reflecting on some stunning statistics from his last four tournaments, which have taken him to the top of the APT tour.

Eason is no fewer than 79-underpar for the four 72-holes championships.

During these events, he won one, the Coke Dr Pepper in Louisiana with his 23-under-par total, was 12-under in Brownwood, Texas when he was tied in 13th place, was 26-under-par and runner-up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and 18-under at Bella Vista where he was tied in 11th place on the final leaderboard.

Eason said: “At Bella Vista I birdied my final hole for level par, so I did not blemish my scoring record which I was pleased about.

“My low score at the four events was my opening round of 62 at Brownwood, and the 72 is my highest return – my only one in the 70s to be accurate, so it is very exciting.

“I have been practising for the last week at the TPC Craig Ranch club so will be ready to go again soon and, to tell you the truth, I cannot wait.

“There are two tournaments backto-back, followed by two more in a run. I have been playing well. I have to say that everything has come together. I am finally driving the ball somewhat in play.

“But I have ruled myself out of being in the top 10 in strokes gained from the tee, but I don’t have any bad balls anymore.

“My wedges, short game and putter have been lethally sharp for the last few weeks.

“Every week I seem to have been a little more focused and a little more hungry, and it is refreshing to be able to compete and play like this.

“So I am hoping it will continue and I can stay in this sort of form.

“Feeling like this is why I love the game of golf so much.”

Eason’s rounds are at the Coke Dr Pepper championship 68-66-63-68265 (23-under-par), at the Fore The Kids 62-69-69-68-268 (12-under), at Broken Arrow GC 67-67-63-65-262 (26-under), and at the Cooper Communities NWA Charity Classic 64-69-65-72-270 (18-under).

In the APT Order of Merit he has a total of 53,857.50 points so far, with his closest challenger on just over 38,087 points.
