Google to investigate reprieve date riddle

-

GOOGLE has responded to confusion from city residents after a date of August 22, 2020 signalling the end of Leicester’s lockdown appeared at the top of search results.

Government officials have not released an end date and have pledged to review the situation every two weeks, with the first review due on Saturday, July 18.

One concerned resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “I just saw the date being shared then typed it in myself.

“It was quite alarming. It doesn’t seem right at all, not just for those who are staying home, but for Leicester on the whole”.

Other went on social media platforms to point out the date being shared on the search engine.

The date now appears to have been removed and a Google spokesman said: “We’re looking into why this is displaying. We encourage users to leave feedback when they encounter something wrong in the Knowledge Graph.”
