Man seriously injured in assault

A MAN is seriously ill with head injuries after being attacked at the weekend.

The man was injured after an altercation outside the Sugar Loaf pub in High Street, Market Harborough, on Saturday.

An 18-year-old woman was also assaulted on the night.

Police are trawling CCTV footage for clues as to who assaulted the teenager.

A spokeswoman said: “It’s believed before the assault there was a disagreement outside a pub in the High Street at 11pm on Saturday and an 18-year-old woman was pushed.

“She sustained minor injuries. “Following the serious assault on the man, a 21-year-old Harborough man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

“Inquiries into the circumstances are continuing and no arrests have been made in relation to the common assault on the 18-year-old.”
