LEICESTER City could be without five key players for their huge Premier League clash with Sheffield United tomorrow night.

Ahead of the meeting with the Blades, doubts remain over Ben Chilwell and James Maddison, while Marc Albrighton is struggling with a knock he picked up against Bournemouth.

Add to those long-term injury absentee Ricardo Pereira and now suspended Caglar Soyuncu, and City are short of several important players.

Maddison (hip) has missed City’s past three games and Chilwell (foot) has been absent for the last two.

The England internationals continue to be assessed on a game-bygame basis and manager Brendan Rodgers was not willing to rule them in or out of tomorrow’s game.

They have been joined on the treatment table by Albrighton (hip), who was substituted 15 minutes into the 4-1 defeat at Bournemouth and is also doubtful.

Soyuncu was later sent off at the Vitality Stadium, and he is now suspended for the remainder of the campaign.

With Chilwell, Soyuncu and Ricardo, who is expected to be out until October as he recovers from knee surgery, all possibly missing, City are without three of their regular back four for a crucial match.

Asked for an update on his squad’s fitness, Rodgers said at his prematch press conference yesterday:

“We’re still assessing game by game Ben and James.

“We’ll leave it to the last moment to see how they both go, but there are question marks of course.

“Marc Albrighton picked up a knock so we’ll see how he is tomorrow. And obviously we’re without Caglar so that’s a blow for us.

“We’ll adjust, we’ll adapt and hopefully put out a team to get a result.”

Rodgers is left with five fit senior defenders: Jonny Evans, James Justin, Christian Fuchs, Ryan Bennett, and Wes Morgan.
