Rastrick claims scratch prize in busy spell for tournament­s

IT has been a busy spell for club tournament­s at Kibworth GC with singles and better-ball Stableford events proving popular with men and women members.

Andy Rastrick won the latest scratch prize with his round of 72 and there were also divisional net awards.

Sam Haynes-Coote, a county junior with a handicap of 5, topped division one with his 39 points, on local rule from Jamie Watson (4), with Kieran Hastings (8) third on 37 pts. Harrison Norton (12) amassed 44 pts to win division two from Trish Formoy (13) on 39 pts, one ahead of John Moxon (11) in third.

Nigel Chambers (17) led division three with 39 pts on countback from Tim Haycock (16), with Julia Dunkley (15) third on 36 pts. Andrew Powell (24) on 37 pts led division four with Colin Cramphorn (25) second on 35 pts and Geoff Upton (23) third on 32 pts.

There were two divisions for men and two for ladies in a similar singles at Stableford.

Corinne Boyd (8) notched 35 pts to win the silver division ahead of Wendy Campbell (16) on 29 pts and Ann Jervis (15) on 26 pts.

Suzanne Gee (23) on 34 pts was the bronze division winner from Jacqueline Latham (33) on 32 pts and Carol Frith (26) third on 31 pts.

Philip Smith (14) on 39 pts was the men’s division 1 winner from Neil McIndoe (4) on 38 pts on local rule from Philip Morton (17) 38 pts, and David Grant (22) on 41 pts led men’s division two from David Cambell (20) on 40 pts and James Longley (19) on 39 pts.

Roger Scanlon and Terry Topliss won the first of the better-ball Stableford­s with their 47 pts haul with Graene Jenkins and Nick Jelley runners-up on 46, and Steve Bowyer and Peter Thornley third also on 46 pts with positions resolved on countback.

Tony O’Neill, Ian Barkes (45 pts), Chris Rowland, Mike Davey (44),

Phil Morton and David Clayton (43) were also among the front runners in this event.

Jack Quilter and Luke Groom on 51 pts headed the field in a similar tournament with Richard Lawton and Andrew Laird on 47 pts runners-up.

Rob Austin and Sam HaynesCoot­e on 46 pts were third on local rule from David Carter and Peter McDonald; Neil Driver and John Quilter also finished on 46 pts with two pairs on 45 pts.
