PEOPLE on a city estate where a teenager was stabbed at the weekend want the two attackers caught – before they kill someone.

The 18-year-old victim remains in hospital after he was attacked by the pair at an address in Dillon Road, off Aikman Avenue, in New Parks, at 11.55pm on Saturday.

He remained in hospital yesterday, police said. The exact nature of his injuries has not been disclosed.

A woman who was present during the attack was reportedly left with bruising after she was pushed to the ground while trying to protect the teenager.

A number of residents told the Mercury the estate had seen a number of knife incidents in the past few years, and they were angry at the latest stabbing.

One said: “I was asleep when this happened, but everyone was saying the next day that these two men just went into the house and stabbed this young man.

“God knows what they thought they were doing or what it was all about.

“But people like this have to be caught because they will kill someone.”

Another resident said: “We’ve had a few things happening with young men and knives in New Parks in the past few years – and people have died.

“It’s a problem we’ve got with some of our young men.

“Some of them think they can use a knife on someone and earn themselves a big reputation with other lads on the estate.”

In a statement released on Sunday, police said the victim had been discharged from hospital.

However, the force later clarified he was still receiving treatment at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Detective Sergeant Dan Cumpsty, who is investigating the attack, said: “Inquiries are continuing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and find those responsible.

“Although it was late at night, there were people about and I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious to come forward.

“I am particularly interested in any CCTV or dashcam footage that has captured anyone matching these descriptions in the areas of

Dillon Road, Aikman Avenue and St Oswald’s Road. If you have information to assist with our inquiries please get in touch.”

One of the suspects is described as mixed race, about 20 years old, 6ft and of average build.

He was wearing black clothing, including a hood and a black mask.

The second man is described as white and of a similar age. He is about 5ft 7in and of average build.

He was wearing dark clothing and a black mask.

A man aged 35, who was arrested nearby on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, has since been released with no further action, a police spokeswoman said.
